Lotus Bakeries Enhances Global Reach with Mondelez and Froneri Ice Cream Collaboration

Expansion of Licensing Agreement

Lotus Bakeries Corp. and Mondelez International have extended their recent licensing agreement to include Froneri International, a UK-based global ice cream manufacturer. This strategic collaboration aims to strengthen the presence of the Lotus Biscoff brand in the ice cream segment and drive international market expansion.

Production and Market Expansion

Lotus Bakeries announced that Froneri will handle the production, marketing, and distribution of Biscoff ice cream across several European countries starting in 2026, with further global expansion planned. Since its international debut in 2019, Biscoff ice cream has gained widespread consumer appeal in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe due to its unique combination of crunchy Biscoff cookie pieces, smooth Biscoff spread, and fresh cream.

Strategic Growth and Operational Efficiency

Recognizing the high potential of the ice cream sector, Lotus Bakeries has partnered with Froneri to scale its ice cream portfolio globally. Froneri, as one of the world’s largest ice cream manufacturers, will contribute its expertise in product innovation, market insights, and supply chain management. By utilizing Froneri’s localized production capabilities, Lotus Bakeries aims to enhance distribution efficiency and strengthen its presence in key markets.

Alignment with Mondelez Partnership

The agreement with Froneri functions as a sub-license under the broader licensing pact with Mondelez International, announced in June 2023. As part of this initiative, Lotus Bakeries and Mondelez plan to expand the Biscoff cookie brand in India and introduce co-branded chocolate products. These products will combine Biscoff’s caramelized crunch with Mondelez’s well-known brands, including Cadbury and Milka. The first co-branded chocolates are expected to launch in early 2025, beginning with Cadbury-Biscoff in the United Kingdom and Milka-Biscoff in Europe, followed by potential global expansion.
